“Making Disciples” Happens When We Obey

February 16, 2022

After attending the Basic BFAM Strategy Training (also known as BBST), Ken* saw how a discipleship-making movement was part of God’s plan for him. “With the BBST training, I received the tools and resources I needed to actually do it.” Following the steps laid out in the training, Ken prayed for direction and power, then following the Lord, He reached out to others looking for an opportunity to bring spiritual and physical healing. People were healed! In fact, from those healings, just as BBST instructs, persons of peace arose. Persons of peace are people who are open to hearing the gospel and bringing others along too, like friends and family.

Ken reached out to one of the persons of peace and began setting up a Discover Group, which is a way for non-believers and new believers to begin to learn from God’s Word. “While we had no idea … how this would turn out, we decided that we were okay with only us two at the start if nobody chose to join us” Ken stated. God had different plans. Within 17 minutes of reaching out to the people around them that they believed would benefit from a Discover Group, they had 7 people committed and excited to join them the following Monday. This one Discover Group has grown up to 13 people on any given night.

The group has created leaders from within, launching other Discover Groups. They have seen almost 100% baptisms through the Holy Spirit from their group attendance, church planting is in the making, and everyone is growing and seeding. Ken excitedly says, “This has changed my life and given me the tools I need to see God’s vision and intention for me realized. Thank you, BFAM team, for these amazing resources.”
